Mayuri Mei Lin

Program Officer for Asia

Mayuri has 10 years’ experience working in media, starting out first as a journalist in Southeast Asia before pivoting to audience and revenue strategy. Prior to joining MDIF, Mayuri was the Educational Program Coordinator at CUNY’s J+ team in New York City where she coordinated multiple professional development programs on product thinking, executive leadership and video revenue for journalists around the world. Before that she worked with the Membership Puzzle Project team to publish the Membership Guide, a handbook on the membership revenue model for newsrooms.  Before that she was the editorial lead for the BBC World Service’s East Asia Visual Journalism team in Jakarta, where she led a multidisciplinary team of designers and developers to produce data and visual stories for the East Asia region, and a reporter in Malaysia, Cambodia and the US covering politics, social affairs and lifestyle.

Mayuri holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and a master’s degree with a concentration on digital innovation from New York University. She is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
