The environment for journalism is unfavourable in seven out of ten countries in the world, according to the 2023 World Press Freedom Index. These are the countries where we work. MDIF has invested in media in 47 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. We have also worked with numerous outlets in other countries where the media are under threat through our Media Advisory Services and regional programs. Each year, we respond to new opportunities and add countries to our portfolio.
