Vacancy: Program Assistant

Reporting to: Program Manager

The Nigeria Media Innovation Program (NAMIP) is a multi-year media initiative that seeks to accelerate digital media innovation and sustainability among independent media outlets in Nigeria. NAMIP is seeking to appoint a full-time ‘Program Assistant  to join the team. We are seeking a highly competent and organized media professional in a full-time contract position for the duration of the program (end date 31 December, 2024). The successful applicant will be based in Nigeria, either Lagos or Abuja. S/he will ideally be able to start immediately, at the latest by 1 May, 2023.

Responsibilities

  • Logistical preparations for all program related activities, such as workshops, in-house training, mentoring visits, etc.;
  • Maintaining and updating the program database in a timely manner;
  • Recording and reporting on project activities and expenditures, and compiling relevant data, as requested by the Program Manager and according to project timeframes;
  • Establishing sound professional relationships and liaising regularly with media partners, consultants, MDIF staff, and other external agencies, as required for the smooth running of the program;
  • Providing communication support including the creation of multimedia content for program communication purposes;
  • If requested by the Program Manager visit and/or liaise with media partners on a regular basis and report on these visits and the findings to the Program Manager; and
  • Undertaking other program administration tasks as and when necessary

Requirements

  • Suitable journalism/media qualifications (University degree or relevant experience)
  • Experience working in a journalism, media or publishing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years in a program and project management role
  • Understanding of media landscape in Nigeria
