Dara Ajala

Program Manager - NAMIP

Dara is a programmes and communications professional who has extensive experience in using the media as a tool for advocacy, specifically in public health. She holds a degree in microbiology and prior to joining MDIF was Programme Manager at Nigeria Health Watch. During her time at Nigeria Health Watch, she managed a portfolio of projects that increased audience knowledge and participation in Nigeria's Health Policy landscape. She served as an editor and contributor on the editorial team, which oversees the publishing of several thought leadership and solutions-oriented stories that provide Nigerians with tools they need to make informed decisions about their health.

Dara has been instrumental in creating and implementing innovative programme strategies that meet national guidelines and international best practices, as well as align with strategic developmental direction. She has contributed to the development of rigorous selection processes for media development programmes. These programmes have identified, trained and built the capacity of media houses and freelance journalists in producing quality and equitable health reports, as well as solutions journalism. Dara has also served as a trainer and mentor on these programs.
