Investing in MDIF

Investing in MDIF

Investing in MDIF’s work enables us to provide the financing that independent news companies need to build financially robust businesses around quality news, information and debate. There are several ways to invest.

MDIF Media Finance II

MDIF Media Finance II is a blended-value loan fund for independent news media companies in select emerging and frontier markets. In a ground-breaking partnership, MDIF and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) provide investors with 55% first-loss protection. MMF II pays a coupon of 4% per annum.

Free Press Investment Notes

Free Press Investment Notes® (FPIN) let social investors in the US invest in independent news businesses in emerging democracies through MDIF. Investors choose their interest rate (up to 3%) and the term of investment (from 1 to 10 years) – the lower the interest rate and the longer the term, the more it helps MDIF provide the support that news outlets need to make the most of their financing. There is no limit on the amount that can be invested, while investments start at as little as $1,000. FPIN are available in many US states.

Direct loan to MDIF

If you would like to make a direct loan to MDIF rather than invest in a standard product, we would be happy to discuss personal terms with you.

To find out more about any of these options, send us an email or telephone us direct on +1 (212) 807 1304.
