Stuart Auerbach Biography

Stuart Auerbach co-founded MDLF in 1995 and served as its first Chairman of the Board of Directors.

For 30 years Stu was a prize-winning reporter at the Washington Post, where he covered domestic and foreign news. He was Middle East correspondent, based in Beirut (1976-77), and South Asia correspondent, based in New Delhi (1979-82).

From 1982-93 he reported on international trade and finance, which included broad coverage of Asia and Eastern and Central Europe. He also covered the fall of Communism in what was then Czechoslovakia.

Before joining the Post, Stu worked for the Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield, MA, and for the Miami Herald.

He died in 2003.
